This article shows you how to change the cost basis of transactions.
The cost basis of an asset is its original acquisition cost, for tax purposes. Cryptio does not allow to directly change the cost basis of a transaction. Instead, you can change the incoming USD rate of a particular transaction, which will affect its cost basis.
Another reason why you might have to do this could be due to an asset not being valued by our price providers at the time of ownership. Our asset price providers may not have data going far back enough to the time that you owned it, therefore you will want to enter the price manually.
To do so:
-
Go to the "Transactions" page
-
Locate the transaction you want to edit the cost basis of
-
Click on this transaction: a drawer should open
-
Change the USD rate of the transaction by editing the input box labeled either:
"Incoming USD rate" or "Outgoing USD rate" (depending on if this transaction is a deposit or a withdrawal)
-
Click the "Save" button
-
Close the drawer, and click the "Update cost basis" button
Note: you don't have to click the "Update cost basis" button every time you change the USD rate of a transaction. You can change a bunch of USD rates, and only then click on the "Update cost basis" button.
